Terms of Service

Acceptance of terms

By creating an account on Kin or using the service at trykinapp.com, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

These terms form a contract between you and Smallsystems.co, a business registered in Singapore ("we", "us", "Kin"). References to "you" mean the individual creating an account or accessing the service.

The service

Kin is a family care coordination tool that allows you to log care notes after medical appointments and automatically distribute a summary digest to family members by email. The service includes:

• A web interface for logging care entries (visits, medications, next steps, notes)
• Automated weekly or on-demand email digests sent to recipients you specify
• Data export in PDF and JSON formats
• Account and recipient management

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with 30 days' notice, except in cases of legal necessity or security emergencies.

Your account

You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.

Kin uses a passwordless login system (magic link via email). You are responsible for the security of your email account.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Accounts may not be transferred to another person without our written consent.

Subscriptions and billing

Free trial — New accounts receive 30 days of full access at no cost. No payment card is required to start the trial.

Monthly plan — S$14.99 per month, billed monthly. You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.

Annual plan — S$119 per year (equivalent to S$9.92/month), billed once annually. If you cancel an annual plan, you retain access until the year ends. We do not offer prorated refunds for annual plans except where required by Singapore law.

All prices are in Singapore dollars and include applicable taxes. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.

If a payment fails, we will attempt to process it again over 7 days. If payment remains unsuccessful after that period, your account will be suspended. Your data is not deleted during suspension — it remains accessible for 30 days after suspension so you can export it.

Your data

You own all care data you enter into Kin. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.

By using Kin, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and transmit your data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you — including sending digest emails to your chosen family recipients.

You can export your full care record at any time from your account settings. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details on data retention.

You are responsible for ensuring that the email addresses you add as family recipients have consented to receive Kin digest emails. Do not add recipients who have not agreed to receive them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Kin for any purpose that is unlawful under Singapore law or the laws of your jurisdiction
• Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or any code designed to interfere with the service
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any other user's account or Kin's systems
• Use the service to send unsolicited communications to recipients who have not consented
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service
• Resell or sublicense access to the service without our written consent
• Use the service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair the service

Violation of these conditions may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.

Not medical advice

Kin is a personal organisation and communication tool. It is not a medical device, electronic health record, or clinical system.

Nothing in Kin — including any AI-assisted features for summarising or formatting care notes — constitutes medical advice, clinical diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. All care decisions should be made in consultation with qualified healthcare professionals.

Kin is not intended to replace communication with your healthcare providers. Do not rely on Kin as the sole record of your family member's care. Always verify critical information (medications, dosages, appointment dates) directly with the relevant healthcare provider.

Intellectual property

The Kin brand, logo, interface design, and software are owned by Smallsystems.co and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for your personal, non-commercial family caregiving purposes in accordance with these terms.

You retain all rights to the care data you enter. We retain all rights to the software, design, and infrastructure of the service.

Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

To the maximum extent permitted by Singapore law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Kin is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data, loss of care continuity, or medical decisions made in reliance on information in the service.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by our negligence.

Termination

By you — You may cancel your account at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation, your data is retained for 30 days so you can export it, then permanently deleted.

By us — We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach. For serious violations (illegal use, security threats), termination may be immediate. For other violations, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the breach.

Upon termination, your licence to use the service ends immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including data retention, liability, and dispute resolution) will do so.

Disputes and governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first at hello@trykinapp.com — we will make a genuine attempt to resolve it informally within 30 days.

If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

If you are a consumer in Malaysia, Australia, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws, those laws may provide you with rights that cannot be excluded by these terms. Nothing here is intended to override those rights.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.

Continuing to use the service after the effective date of updated terms constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you should cancel your account before the change takes effect.
